Rashtriya Military School (RMS) Criteria and Eligibility

Eligibility Criteria

1. Nationality

• Only Indian citizens are eligible to apply.

2. Age Criteria

• For Class VI Admission:
  • The candidate should be between 10 to 12 years of age as of March 31st of the year of admission.
• For Class IX Admission:
  • The candidate should be between 13 to 15 years of age as of March 31st of the year of admission.
  • The candidate must have passed Class VIII from a recognized school at the time of admission.

3. Gender

• Only boys are eligible for admission to Rashtriya Military Schools.

4. Reservation Policy

• Scheduled Castes (SC): 15% of the seats are reserved.
• Scheduled Tribes (ST): 7.5% of the seats are reserved.
• Children of Service Personnel including Ex-Servicemen: 70% of the seats are reserved for children of JCOs/ORs (Junior Commissioned Officers/Other Ranks) in the Armed Forces.
• Kashmir Migrants: A small number of seats are reserved for the wards of Kashmiri migrants.

5. Medical Fitness

• Candidates must be medically fit as per the standards set by the Rashtriya Military Schools.

Paper Marking Summary

Selection Process

• Interview: Candidates who qualify in the written exam are called for an interview. The interview carries 50 marks for both classes.
• Final Merit List: The final merit list is prepared based on the performance in the written exam and interview, subject to medical fitness and other criteria.
• The exam is conducted in English and Hindi, except for the English paper which is in English only.
